Book Contributors

The contributors all know Radley Lakes personally. They either have specialist expertise in particular topics that are covered in the book, or were closely involved in the Save Radley Lakes campaign of 2005 to 2008 , or both.

Graham Bateman

A long-standing member of the Abingdon Naturalists' Society with a keen interest, and much knowledge of, the wildlife of the Radley Lakes area.

Ben Carpenter

Ben is a senior consultant ecologist at Bioscan (UK), with particular expertise in ornithological surveys which he conducts for local and national organisations.

Richard Dudding

The archivist and a former chairman of Radley History Club, Richard led the team that produced the Radley Lakes Masterplan and was instrumental in establishing the Radley Lakes Trust.

David Guyoncourt

David has made many surveys of the flora and fauna of the Radley Lakes area. He is Conservation Chairman of the Abingdon Naturalists’ Society, a founder member of Save Radley Lakes, and a trustee of the Radley Lakes Trust.

Joyce Huddleston 

The current chairman of Radley History Club, Joyce has over 30 years of experience as a technical writer and editor specialising in energy and environmental matters.

Tony Juniper CBE

Tony often visited the Radley Lakes area when he was growing up in Oxford. An environmentalist and author, he was Executive Director of Friends of the Earth and is currently Chair of Natural England.

John Killick 

The County Recorder for Oxfordshire for the Botanical Society of the British Isles for many years, John is a co-author of The Flora of Oxfordshire and Oxfordshire’s Threatened Plants.

Roger Thomas

An archaeologist by profession, Roger was a key member of Save Radley Lakes, chairman of its successor group, Friends of Radley Lakes, and is a trustee of the Radley Lakes Trust.

Marjorie White

A major force within the Save Radley Lakes campaign, Majorie served as its Publicity Officer, organising fund-raising events for the campaign and later for the Friends of Radley Lakes.
