On the beautiful, crisp, early-winter morning of the last Sunday in November, the knowledgeable Ian Elkins led a successful bird watching walk at Thrupp Lake. The group saw and heard many birds: the usual Mallards, Gulls and Cormorants were there in substantial numbers and we also saw Teal, Gadwalls, Little Grebes, Great Crested Grebes, Goosanders, Tufted ducks, a Mute Swan, Shovelers, a Heron, Long Tailed Tits, a Goldcrest and even a Kestrel which was spotted hovering over the fields in the distance.
As an added bonus, a Pike made an appearance in the shallower water next to the wooden bridge in the northwest corner.
Thank you to Ian for his time leading the walk and providing his expertise. Thank you also to all those who attended and contributed to an enjoyable morning at the Lakes.
